You might recognize the lanterns in this shot if you follow this blog very closely. I posted a telephoto shot of one of the red lanterns suspended above Grant street a while back here. The bright colors in the jumble of storefront advertisements and signage on this street is what caught my eye for this one. Shows that it pays to go back and check the Raw files for missed gems.
Some processing in post to bring out the colors and perk up the contrast, but nothing overdone or cheesy.
I’m sure I’ve mentioned this before, but I only shoot in Raw and thus I process 100% of my photographs. I know there is a great deal of controversy over process-or-not but personally, I feel that it is one of the steps of learning digital photography, just as darkroom techniques are a crucial skill for any professional film photographer.
